FEBRUARY 2010

February 27 - ORCMA Oak Ridge Symphony 'A Night at the Movies'.  Oak Ridge Symphony Professional Orchestra celebrates the music of Titanic, Lord of the Rings, James Bond, Star Wars and many more. 8 PM at the Oak Ridge High School Performing Arts Center.  Admission: $22 Adult, $20 Senior, 18 & under are free.

February 28 - ORCMA Isotone Series 'Honoring Stephen Hawking'. Soprano Katy Wolfe Zahn, Composer Larry Spivack, Violinist Susan Eddlemon and Percussionist Scott Eddlemon will perform five unique pieces honoring British physicist Stephen Hawking who is known for his contributions to the fields of cosmology and quantum gravity especially in the context of black holes. Come and experience the Physics of music and the Music of physics. 3 PM at the American Museum of Science and Energy. Admission: $15 Adult, $12 Senior, $12 Student.

MARCH 2010

March 6 -the Oak Ridge Community Orchestra will present a public service concert of romantic music at the First Baptist Church of Oak Ridge at 2 PM.  The concert will feature three soloists:  Soprano Jennifer Barnett, Baritone Michael Rodgers and Jack Blackerby on French Horn.  More information is available at www.oakridgeorchestra.com. Admission is free, although donations are accepted.

March 6 - The Oak Ridge Community Band will present Ebony Imagery at 3:30 PM in the Oak Ridge High School Auditorium.

March 13 - ORCMA Chamber Series 'Duo Fresco'. Guitar and Viola move in new musical directions through their work with contemporary composers and by creating their own transcriptions of historical repertoire. 8 PM at the Pollard Auditorium (part of ORAU). Admission: $25 Adult & Senior, $12 Student 18 and younger.

March 15 - UNITED ARTS FUND DRIVE BEGINS.

March 20 - ORCMA Oak Ridge Symphony 'The Strings Awaken Spring'. Oak Ridge Symphony Professional Orchestra will present Grieg’s Holberg Suite, DeBussy’s Danses sacreee et profane featuring harpist Cindy Hicks and Schoenberg’s Verklaerte Nacht. 8 PM at the Oak Ridge High School Performing Arts Center. Admission: $22 Adult, $20 Senior, 18 and under are free.

March 25 - 27 - 22nd Annual Tennessee Mountain Writers Conference - Tennessee Wordsmiths - DoubleTree Hotel in Oak Ridge

APRIL 2010

April 10 - ORCMA Chamber Series 'James Piano Quartet'. This group will perform Mozart’s Quartet in G minor, Walton’s Piano Quartet and Brahms’ Piano Quartet in C Minor, opus 60. 8 PM at Pollard Auditorium (part of ORAU).
Admission: $25 Adult & Senior, $12 Student 18 and younger

April 11 - Oak Ridge Community Band presents Band Masterpieces of the 20th Century. Concert at 3:30 PM in the Oak Ridge High School auditorium.

MAY 2010

May 1 - ORCMA Oak Ridge Symphony & Chorus joined by Voices of the Mountains'Persian Persuasions'.Oak Ridge Symphony Professional Orchestra, Oak Ridge Chorus and choral group, Voices of the Mountains, under the direction of conductor Cornelia Kodkani-Laemmli’s last work with ORCMA, will perform Rimsky-Korsakov’s The Tsar’s Bride Overture, Theofanidis’ The Here and Now, featuring Soprano Sunny Oh, Tenor Andrew Skoogs, Bass Andrew Wentzel and Rimsky-Korsakov’s Scheherazade. 8 PM at theOak Ridge High School Performing Arts Center.Admission: $22 Adult, $20 Senior, 18 and under are free.

May 31 - Oak Ridge Community Band presents the Memorial Day Concert at 7 PM in A.K. Bissell Park.

June 18 through 19 - Secret City Festival - Bissell Park

July 4 - Oak Ridge Community Band presents the Independence Day Concert at 7 PM in A.K. Bissell Park.

AUGUST 2010

August 1 - Oak Ridge Community Band presents the Summer Concert at 7 PM in A.K. Bissell Park.

September 6 - Oak Ridge Community Band presents the Labor Day Concert at 7 PM in A.K. Bissell Park.
